Beyond the Chat Window: What Claude Cowork Actually Does

August 19, 2026 | Monthly Meeting

What to Automate and What to Skip: A Practical Cowork Playbook

Most of us use AI in a chat window — ask a question, get an answer, then do something with it ourselves. Cowork closes that last gap: it works with your real files, runs on a schedule, and uses the tools you already have to produce the finished thing, not just the answer.

Alissa Condra will walk through four automations she runs in her own business — from a simple bank-statement-to-spreadsheet task up to an interactive customer journey map built from folders of unstructured transcripts and proposals. Along the way she'll share the practical test she uses to decide what's worth building in Cowork versus what's fine to leave in a chat, and where the tool breaks down. Bring your own Cowork examples or questions and use cases and we'll save time for a group discussion.

Using Claude Cowork's agentic workspace to handle real client work — research, drafts, planning — giving you a practical way to bring AI into nonprofit and small business engagements.

What to Expect

You'll leave with a clear picture of how Claude Cowork fits into a real workflow — what it's built for, where it earns its keep, and how to evaluate whether it makes sense for your clients and your work.

About the Speaker

Alissa Condra Alissa Condra is the founder of Aligned Experience Design and co-founder of NonprophetAI, where she builds done-for-you AI systems for small service businesses as well as nonprofits. She spent 15 years in UX design before incorporating AI into her process and services, and she approaches the work the same way she always has — from the human side first, figuring out what someone actually needs before deciding what to build. She's currently running AI automations across sales, marketing, content, reporting, and client research, and she writes about what she's learning as she goes.
